And Our Winner for the Valentine’s Day Promotion Is…

To celebrate Valentine’s Day, we decided we wanted to get some extra attention and love from our customers, so we asked all of you to post a creative picture or video and let us know why you love us with the hashtag #WhyILoveGotPrint. We received numerous great posts that make us feel all the more special (thanks everyone!).

But enough about us. Let’s announce the winner now, shall we? Kristen King, who won due to her creative use of her print product. With the use of a mannequin puppet (great idea!), she cleverly depicts the process that goes behind a graphic designer’s work, from inception of a piece, to its final production. We applaud her for a job well done.

GotIdea, GotPhoto, GotDesign, GotPrint
But let’s talk a little bit more about the artist herself. A mostly self-taught graphic designer, it all started when Kristen took a very basic “intro to design” class. Years later, she was thrown into a position at her job to deal with graphics. From there on, it was hours of YouTube videos, a Photoshop conference, and lots of practice. After three years doing solely graphic design at work, she left her staff design job and embarked on a rather risky, but rewarding journey – she started out on her own as a freelancer. But thankfully, the freelance world has been good for her. She quickly founded Graphique Motif in November 2013, and turned her passion into a full-time job, working on her own.

Kristen prides herself on providing high-quality, affordable custom designs for her clients, and simply loves what she does. It’s no wonder she now has clients from Washington, to Florida and Slovenia!
She describes her style as more simplistic and understated. She’s a lover of clean lines and white space. But, she still enjoys designing to the different tastes of each client. She admits it’s not always easy, but learning to be flexible is a real benefit in her line of work.

As far as her motto? Well, let’s hear it from the designer herself.

“‘Good, better, best, never let it rest, until your good becomes your better and your better is best.’
This little poem is a reminder to never be content with where things are at whether personally or professionally. Graphics is an ever-changing field and I’m not sure that a designer ever fully ‘arrives,’ it’s definitely a process, but I want to continue learning, growing, and striving to be the absolute BEST I can be.”

Up next? Kristen’s getting ready to launch her new website, graphiquemotif.com, at the end of this month.

Thanks to everyone who participated in our Valentine’s Day promotion! We loved all the creativity that poured out of you, and if you didn’t get a chance to see the submissions, we created a small slideshow for you to watch below.
