How to Create Your Own Canvas Prints Online

Canvas prints make beautiful decorations or gifts for any room, office, or common space that needs a little pop of color or style. Not only are they an excellent way to reproduce and display your favorite pieces of art, but high-quality prints also make a wonderful way to set a tone and elevate a room. However, with so many different options from canvas style, shape, size, and printing quality, (not to mention selecting the artwork itself) it can be hard to upload, design, and edit a canvas print so that it looks just the way you want.

How Do I Design Custom Canvas Prints?

At GotPrint, we know these hurdles can stop many from ending up with the canvas prints they hoped for. That’s why whether you are looking to elevate a new space in your home, the plain walls of a business office, or you are trying to design a custom gift for someone you care about, we want you to be able to create the artwork you’ve pictured in your mind. The following instructions are simple to understand and will help you step-by-step through your online canvas print design process. Whatever image you need to print, we have the tools to make your vision a reality.

Step 1: Use Our Canvas Print Order Form to Select Your Specifications

Our online order form is going to be the best place to start when creating your canvas prints. When creating your custom artwork, you will have several different specifications to pick from. We do start with high-quality gallery-wrapped canvas at 1 and ½ inches though, so you don’t have to make that decision.

Next though, you will need to pick a square or rectangular shape for your canvas frame. This will of course depend on the image you want to print, but both options come in a variety of sizes.

Square Canvas Prints:

  • 8″ x 8″
  • 12″ x 12″
  • 16″ x 16″
  • 36″ x 36″

Rectangular Prints:

  • 8″ x 10″
  • 11″ x 14″
  • 12″ x 36″
  • 16″ x 20″
  • 16″ x 24″
  • 20″ x 24″
  • 20″ x 30″
  • 24″ x 36″
  • 30″ x 40″

You will also be able to select between a portrait or landscape orientation when your artwork or image is printed on a rectangle print.

Lastly, you will need to select how many canvas prints you are going to need. We offer all quantities from 1 to 100, and if there is a bulk order you anticipate needing help with, our GotPrint experts are info@gotprint.com will have you covered.

Step 2: Upload Your Print-Ready File

With most of your initial choices out of the way, this next step is going to be your easiest option. Directly from the print order form, we offer an easy-to-upload link of your photo, image, or artwork directly to your canvas print. If you are uploading your own file, we recommend checking the templates tab of the order form to see if your file is set up accordingly. Image uploads have a size limit of 75 megabytes (MB), and we accept .TIF, .TIFF, .EPS, .AI, .PSD, .BMP, .GIF, .JPG, .PNG, and .PDF file formats. Resolution and photo quality are incredibly important for canvas print quality, so if you’re going to upload your own photo we suggest making sure it is as high-quality a photo as you can manage. If you would rather design a canvas print yourself, edit images, or add text, you will need to use our Online Design Tool.

Step 3: Design Your Canvas Print with our Online Design Tool

If you would rather have more control over your final product and design your custom canvas print yourself, simply select the “Design Online” button at the end of the order form. GotPrint has developed our online design tool to allow users to upload photographs, images, or artwork, as well as modify elements of their design, import the clipart we provide, or add any text they need. It’s all so important during this step to preview your work and make sure it looks just the way you want. We do offer a Money Back Satisfaction Guarantee to our first-time retail customers or first-time issues for orders with a subtotal of up to $100 but we would rather get it right the first time, every time. If you are not happy with your canvas print though, please let us know. If we find that we made an error, we will happily reprint your order.

Step 4: Sign Up or Log In to your GotPrint Order to Order Canvas Print

Once you’ve finished designing your canvas print, you’ll be prompted to save it to your GotPrint account. If you don’t have an account, we recommend creating one to speed up the ordering process. After this, all you need to do is pay for your canvas print, submit your order, and wait 2-3 business days for your beautiful artwork to appear, ready to decorate wherever, whatever, for whoever you want.

Why Do I Want Canvas Print Artwork?

Gallery-wrapped canvas prints are beautifully designed to display everything from unique pieces of art to family vacation photographs. All our canvas prints use a semi-glossy textured canvas to help capture the brilliant colors of your image with a timeless presentation.

Though at GotPrint we wrap our prints in a durable cotton and polyester blend, canvases were traditionally made of tightly woven hemp. The term “canvas,” in fact derives from the Latin, ‘made of hemp’. The material gained popularity in the 16th century during the Italian Renaissance when painters used it to replace traditional frescos, which were normally painted on wet plaster or wood panels.

Each of our canvas prints comes with a wire hanger and rubber bumper, eliminating the need for extra hardware to hang up your image. You could have your favorite images printed on traditional paper or poster stock, but when we’ve made it this easy to showcase artwork and photos, why would you?
